Gauteng MEC for Finance and Economic Development, Lebogang Maile, recently hosted an introductory meeting with a high-level delegation from China’s Anhui Province as part of efforts to strengthen international provincial relations.
The engagement focused on advancing economic cooperation, with particular attention on innovation, technology, and industrial growth. As part of the visit, the delegation also held a bilateral meeting with the Executive Management of Chery South Africa.
Discussions centred on potential collaboration in ICT and high-tech manufacturing, aligning with the Chery Group’s plans to expand its footprint in South Africa. Feasibility studies for this expansion are currently underway, signalling promising prospects for investment and job creation within the province.
The meeting marked an important step toward deepening economic ties and exploring mutually beneficial opportunities between Gauteng and Anhui.
